Director - First Lines Controls (Marsh IMEA) What can you expect? The incumbent in this role would lead and optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of first line controls across the IMEA region, ensuring robust risk management and supporting the organization’s financial performance. They will partner with the business to develop sustainable, repeatable capabilities that enhance service standards and execution. Analyze and review data, tools, processes, and operational standards to manage risk effectively. Represent IMEA on global forums, providing insights and escalation as needed. We will count on you for the following: Risk Management & Controls Oversee risk in the First Line, fostering a culture of risk awareness. Lead regional initiatives such as Operational Resilience, providing senior management with oversight through deep dives into focused risk areas. Act as a risk advisor, ensuring risks are identified, quantified, and mitigated in line with centrally defined methodologies. Review, monitor, and enhance controls to ensure ongoing effectiveness. Regulatory & Compliance Collaborate with Second Line to ensure compliance with regulatory and group requirements, maintaining appropriate evidence. Support regulatory consultations, ensuring understanding of implications and implementation. Participate in major regulatory projects impacting the business. Embed policy, procedural, and regulatory changes within the business, including testing where appropriate. Provide updates to senior leadership on the regulatory environment and required actions. Proposition Governance Oversee proposition governance across all Marsh business segments. Escalate issues to senior leadership as appropriate. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting Provide proportionate management information to the IMEA SteerCo to support performance management against risk appetite and strategic objectives. Propose and conduct deep dives into specific risk areas, reporting findings to the SteerCo and IMEA Risk Committee. Act as a conduit between the business and Second Line, reporting to the IMEA President and matrix reporting to the Global Head of First Line Controls. Represent IMEA on internal global forums, including management reporting and issue escalation. What do you need to have? Minimum 15 years’ experience overall Proven expertise leading strategic governance within a dynamic, matrixed organization. Ability to translate technical risk and control knowledge into operational practices. Knowledge of insurance broking / intermediary processes is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic vision and objectives. Strong relationship management skills across all organizational levels. Effective communicator with influencing skills.
