Position: Marketing Head Oncology

Location: Mumbai (Corporate Office)

Reporting To: Business Head Oncology / CMD / CEO (as applicable)

Experience: 15+ years in Pharmaceutical Marketing with strong Oncology specialization

Role Purpose

Marketing Head – Oncology

portfolio strategy, launch excellence, brand lifecycle management, and capability building

Strategic Context – BDR Oncology

BDR’s Oncology business focuses on:

  • Niche and differentiated oncology molecules

  • Complex generics and specialty therapies

  • Strong presence in

    Oncology OSD and Injectables

  • Emphasis on

    first-to-launch / early-entry products

  • Ethical, science-driven engagement with oncologists and institutions

build a strong oncology franchise with depth, credibility, and sustainable growth

Key Responsibilities

1. Oncology Portfolio Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute the

    long-term marketing vision and roadmap

    for BDR’s Oncology business.
  • Identify

    portfolio gaps, white spaces, and future therapy opportunities

    aligned to BDR’s R&D and manufacturing strengths.
  • Drive the transition from product-led marketing to

    portfolio and disease-based marketing

    .

2. New Product Identification & Launch Excellence

  • Lead

    end-to-end launch strategy

    for new oncology products including:
    • First-to-launch molecules
    • Early-to-market niche brands
    • Low-volume, high-science products
  • Own launch readiness across:
    • Market research & forecasting
    • Brand positioning & differentiation
    • Sales force training & scientific detailing
    • KOL mapping and advocacy building
  • Ensure

    flawless execution of launches

    across metros, Tier-1, and key oncology hubs.

3. Brand Lifecycle Management & Scale-up

  • Scale existing oncology brands through:
    • Strategic repositioning
    • Indication-based communication
    • Improved therapy adoption
  • Revive underperforming brands using

    data-driven corrective strategies

    .
  • Drive

    portfolio rationalization

    to improve focus, ROI, and field-force effectiveness.

4. Oncology Marketing Strategy Revamp

  • Redesign BDR’s oncology marketing approach to be:
    • Highly scientific

    • Insight-driven
    • Differentiated from generic-heavy competition
  • Strengthen

    digital and hybrid engagement models

    for oncologists and institutions.
  • Build high-quality promotional tools aligned with ethical and regulatory standards.

5. Medical & Scientific Engagement

  • Work closely with Medical Affairs to:
    • Build strong scientific narratives
    • Design CMEs, advisory boards, and scientific forums
    • Support real-world evidence and publication strategies
  • Ensure strong credibility with:
    • Medical oncologists
    • Surgical oncologists
    • Hematologists
    • Oncology institutions and centers of excellence

6. Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Partner closely with:
    • Sales leadership for execution alignment
    • Supply Chain for launch readiness and availability
    • Regulatory and Quality for compliant communication
    • Finance for pricing, margins, and budget optimization
  • Act as a

    single-point marketing owner

    for the Oncology business.

7. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Build and mentor a

    high-performing oncology marketing team

    .
  • Develop strong second-line leadership and succession.
  • Set up:
    • Clear KRAs and KPIs
    • Review and governance mechanisms
    • Launch excellence and brand review frameworks

Oncology Exposure – Mandatory

one or more of the following

Therapy & Molecule Experience

  • Oncology injectables and/or oral solids
  • Chemotherapy agents
  • Targeted therapies
  • Hormonal oncology products
  • Supportive oncology care
  • Biosimilars / complex generics (preferred)

Disease Segments

  • Solid tumors (Breast, Lung, GI, Gynecological, Head & Neck, etc.)
  • Hematological malignancies

Strategic Experience

  • First-to-launch / early-entry oncology products

  • Niche brands with

    limited prescriber base and high scientific depth

  • Scaling brands from limited geography to

    pan-India oncology footprint

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years

    of experience in pharmaceutical marketing with

    significant Oncology exposure

    .
  • Demonstrated success in:
    • Launching and scaling oncology brands
    • Leading large and complex marketing teams
    • Building strong oncology portfolios with long-term sustainability
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Indian oncology market dynamics
    • Institutional and hospital-based oncology business
    • Ethical promotion and compliance expectations

Educational Qualification

  • MBA / PGDM – Marketing

    (mandatory)
  • Science / Pharmacy background

    strongly preferred
