Job Description

Role & responsibilities

This is a core engineering design role specializing in HVDC system design. Candidates with experience into maintenance, execution, or field project activities are kindly requested not to apply.

HVDC converter stations and AC substations

The candidate will ensure end-to-end engineering, interface management, design reviews, and support during installation, testing, and commissioning.

Lead and review electrical design packages for
HVDC converter stations
including:

Converter transformers
AC/DC switchyard equipment
Harmonic filters & reactors
DC yard components (Poles, Smoothing Reactors, DC Switchgear)
Valve cooling systems & auxiliary power systems

Review OEM design deliverables (Hitachi, Siemens, GE), ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Perform electrical calculations: short circuit studies, load flow, grounding/earthing studies, cable sizing, protection coordination.
Validate equipment technical data, GA drawings, single line diagrams, and interface control documents.

Support FAT/SAT of HVDC electrical equipment with OEMs.
Participate in commissioning of control & protection systems, valves, converter transformers, and harmonics filters.
Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO, utility guidelines).

Preferred candidate profile

Must have hands-on experience in
HVDC systems (LCC or VSC)
with involvement in at least one OEM:

Hitachi Energy HVDC
,
Siemens Energy HVDC-PLUS
,
GE Grid HVDC
.

Strong experience in electrical design, system studies, protection & control, and HV equipment selection.
Experience working in
EPC, utility, transmission, or OEM projects
involving large HVDC/AC substations.
