Job Description

Job Purpose

  • This role encompasses managing BAU operational issues through monitoring and effective communications, connecting with internal stakeholders to sense issues and collate information, operational oversight, and the integration of effective communication strategies to enhance the airline's reputation and passenger experience, working closely with the Comms Lead for Operations, Engineering, D&T & Safety
  • The role requires working closely with Lead Communications Operations connecting with key Operational personnel, including Airport Ops, Flight Ops, Safety & Security, IOCC and Engineering and strategic thinking and planning with these stakeholders to ensure that disruptions and emergency situations are mitigated in the media
  • To ensure that operational updates, service enhancements, and compliance achievements are effectively communicated to both internal stakeholders and the customers, aligning with the airline's strategic objectives and brand promise

Key Accountabilities

Functional Activities

  • Collaborate with key departments of the Operations function to communicate operational achievements, service enhancements, and compliance initiatives effectively to passengers and other stakeholders.
  • To develop high level communication protocols/documents to be ready for any emergency or high-risk situations developing in airline operations.
  • To mitigate media risks arising from flight operation issues by sourcing relevant information from internal stakeholders and strategically communicating with external stakeholders.
  • Implement a transparent communication policy for operational disruptions or changes, providing timely updates and explanations to minimize inconvenience and maintain trust.
  • Build strong media relationships in key markets, engage in proactive media relations to showcase the airline's operational advancements and service improvements, positioning the airline as a leader in customer security and safety.
  • Utilize digital platforms and social media to disseminate real-time operational information and service updates, enhancing passenger convenience and satisfaction.

Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent, reporting officer and HR.
