Mainframe Z/OS Administrator

Role Overview: As a Mainframe z/OS Administrator with 2-5 years of experience, your role will involve managing, supporting, and troubleshooting z/OS environments. You should have a strong foundational knowledge in mainframe administration and be proficient in resolving support issues effectively. Your expertise in handling various mainframe-related tools such as ISV tools, JCL, scripting, and system monitoring utilities will be crucial for success in this role. Key Responsibilities: - Administer and support z/OS mainframe systems. - Perform system configuration, installation, and troubleshooting in a z/OS environment. - Handle ISV tool installation, upgrades, and configuration. - Manage JCL, scripts, SDSF, JES, and monitor/resolve issues related to them. - Perform monitoring and management of the system console, using console commands and tools. - Manage and configure TSO/E and ISPF environments. - Utilize incident management tools to resolve system issues effectively. - Perform diagnostics and health checks using tools like SMF and z/OS Health Checker. - Support DB2, COBOL, and mainframe storage management, including SMS and DFSMS. - Implement security policies and access controls using RACF or equivalent security tools. - Respond to performance issues and take corrective actions. - Perform backup and recovery activities for datasets and volumes. Preferred Technical Skills: - Strong z/OS Administration skills and proficiency in JCL for batch job management. - Familiarity with TSO/E, ISPF, COBOL, DB2, and CICS environments. - Knowledge of JES, SDSF, and monitoring tools. - Exposure to system console management, console monitoring tools, and usage of console commands. - Experience with incident management and performance monitoring tools. - Understanding of mainframe storage management (DFSMS, SMS) and backup/recovery processes. - Experience with RACF or equivalent security administration. - Knowledge of automation tools (Tivoli, BMC) is a plus. Qualification Required: - B.C.A, B.Sc, B.E, B.Tech, M.C.A, M.Sc, M.Tech Additional Details: In this role, you will be part of the IT Software industry with a focus on Application Programming / Maintenance.
