Mainframe Systems Programmer -CICS

You will be responsible for backup and recovery processes and tools related to databases. Your role will involve having a strong understanding of database knowledge, including logical and physical design. You should also have experience in troubleshooting database performance issues and be familiar with query tuning concepts. As part of your responsibilities, you will perform various data management tasks such as loading, unloading, updating, restoring, and removing data to maintain the accuracy of the database. Additionally, you will be required to carry out Database Maintenance activities like Adhoc Reorgs, Runstats, and monitor scheduled maintenance activities based on demands from application teams. Monitoring and managing space within the databases will also be a crucial aspect of your role. This includes purging obsolete data, reclaiming space, and identifying and troubleshooting high-priority database issues. You will also be responsible for monitoring database backups, maintenance jobs, and troubleshooting job failures in collaboration with the Operations team. Your duties will also involve monitoring databases for any unusual activities or restrictive states and periodically checking logs for issues. Furthermore, you will be required to refresh Dev/Test databases with production backup images as requested and work in a collaborative multi-client environment. Having knowledge of Cobol Programming and familiarity with Database Third-party Software tools such as Omegamon, Tmon, BMC Suite, and CA DB2 Toolset will be advantageous. Additionally, you should be prepared for off-hours support and participate in an on-call schedule when required. The platforms you will primarily work on include z/os DB2 and IMS, with bonus platforms being IDMS, Adabase, Supra, System 2000, and Datacom.,
