Job Description

Mainframe DB2 Administrator

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain
DB2 databases
on IBM mainframe (z/OS) environments.
Monitor database performance and tune for optimal throughput and response times.
Manage
DB2 database objects
such as tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and packages.
Perform backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and availability.
Implement and maintain database security policies and user access controls.
Support database upgrades, patches, and migration activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve DB2-related incidents and performance issues.
Work closely with application teams, system programmers, and network teams to ensure smooth database operations.
Develop and maintain documentation related to DB2 database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Plan and execute database capacity and growth planning.
Provide support for SQL query tuning and optimization.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies and industry regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

4 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a
DB2 Administrator
on
IBM mainframe (z/OS)
platform.
Strong knowledge of
DB2 for z/OS architecture
, utilities, and management tools.
Experience with
database performance tuning
and SQL optimization.
Proficient in
DB2 backup, recovery
, and disaster recovery processes.
Familiarity with
security concepts
, roles, and permissions in DB2.
Knowledge of
JCL
(Job Control Language) and mainframe environment.
Experience with
database upgrades
, patching, and migration projects.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Good communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have):

Experience with
DB2 Connect
and integration with distributed systems.
Familiarity with
automation tools
and scripting (CLIST, REXX).
Knowledge of
SQL performance tuning tools

Certifications such as
IBM Certified Database Administrator DB2 for z/OS
.
Exposure to
mainframe security
tools and practices.
