Looking for an experienced Librarian to work for pollocks Intelli school located at Marikavalasa, Visakhapatnam.

Job Title: Librarian

Summary:

The Librarian is responsible for managing the school library and ensuring it supports the academic curriculum and the learning needs of students and teachers. The role includes maintaining the library collection, promoting reading habits, managing digital and physical resources, and assisting students and staff in locating and using library materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Library Management

• Organize, maintain, and update the library’s collection of books, journals, and digital resources.
• Classify and catalogue library materials following standard library systems.
• Ensure proper storage, repair, and replacement of damaged books.
• Maintain accurate library records, issue/return registers, and inventory lists.

2. Support for Teaching & Learning

• Assist teachers and students in finding appropriate study materials and references.
• Coordinate with subject teachers to recommend and acquire new books/resources.
• Promote reading and research habits through book clubs, reading challenges, and literary events.

3. Technology & Digital Resources

• Manage digital library databases and online learning platforms, if applicable.
• Guide students on using e-resources and online catalogues responsibly.
• Ensure internet safety and proper usage of library computers.

4. Administrative Duties

• Prepare annual reports on library activities, usage statistics, and book budgets.
• Develop and enforce library policies and procedures.
• Supervise and guide student volunteers or library assistants, if assigned.

5. Reading Promotion & Engagement

• Organize book fairs, author visits, storytelling sessions, and library week activities.
• Create displays and bulletin boards that promote reading and new arrivals.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science (B.Lib.Sc / M.Lib.Sc).
• Prior experience in a school or educational institution preferred.
• Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with library management software and digital resources.
• Passion for books, reading, and student learning support.

Work Schedule:

• As per school working hours and academic calendar.
• May require participation in school events or reading programs beyond regular hours.
