SAP Transportation Management (TM)

Education and Certifications

• Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
• SAP TM certification is preferred

Required Experience

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in SAP Transportation Management

• 2-3 years of experience in leading teams or mentoring engineers in a project or delivery context

• Proven track record of leading transportation planning, carrier selection, tendering, and freight settlement
• Exposure to SAP TM standalone and embedded deployment models
• Experience working in a global delivery model or within a Global Technology Center is a plus

Essential skills

• SAP TM Functional Expertise: Proven configuration and functional expertise across SAP TM modulesFreight Order Management, Freight Settlement, Transportation Planning, and Charge Management

• Solution Design: Ability to translate business requirements into scalable TM solutions using frameworks like BOPF, PPF, BRF+, and FPM

• Integration: Strong understanding of TM integration with SAP S/4HANA or ECC (SD, MM, EWM) and middleware such as PI/PO

• Testing and Deployment: Experience in end-to-end testing, cutover planning, and post go-live support for SAP TM projects

• Agile Delivery: Exposure to Agile/Scrum project delivery with distributed global teams
• Documentation: Proficient in writing functional specs, configuration documents, and training materials
• Leadership Experience: Ability to guide and mentor junior engineers and lead module-level delivery ownership

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of SAP TM solutions, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery in line with project goals
• Drive functional development activities such as blueprinting, testing, training, and go-live support for domestic and international transport operations
• Translate user stories and functional requirements into robust SAP TM configurations and functional specifications for WRICEF developments
• Take ownership of module-level deliverables and ensure seamless cross-module integration with SAP SD, MM, and EWM
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement TM enhancements in iterative Agile sprints, ensuring alignment with the logistics roadmap
• Manage defect resolution and functional unit testing during SIT, UAT, and regression phases to ensure solution stability and performance
• Act as the SME for SAP TM, providing expert-level support to resolve critical functional issues in ongoing operations
• Guide support teams with root-cause analysis, system debugging, and transport management issue resolution within defined SLAs
• Ensure comprehensive documentation of configurations, design decisions, and solution walkthroughs to build internal knowledge repositories
• Conduct end-user training sessions and support change management initiatives for smooth adoption of new TM functionalities
• Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance with system architecture, access control, and transport policies
