Lead Principal Software Engineer

As a Senior Engineering Manager at our company, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in building distributed systems for video transcoding, storage, and delivery. You will play a crucial role in architecting and designing cloud-first solutions for high-volume media processing, utilizing codecs like H.264/HEVC and protocols like HLS/DASH. Your collaboration with product teams will be essential to ensure seamless interoperability with internal services and consumers. Additionally, you will work on cloud storage strategy, prioritizing scalability, cost efficiency, and cross-platform compatibility. Troubleshooting complex video issues related to encoding, streaming, recording, and playback across various devices and platforms will also be part of your responsibilities. You will provide technical support and training on video technologies and best practices, driving innovation to create resilient and scalable media pipelines. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture of technical excellence, mentorship, and operational rigor within the team. Qualifications Required: - 8+ years of engineering management experience leading infrastructure/platform teams. - Proven expertise in designing cloud-native distributed systems at scale, such as microservices and serverless architectures. - Deep familiarity with video technology, including codecs like HEVC and AV1, streaming protocols like HLS and CMAF, and open-source tools like FFmpeg and GStreamer. - Experience in designing and developing video media solutions using video processing tools and frameworks (e.g., FFmpeg, GStreamer), configuring video encoders, and running standard quality measures such as PSNR, SSIM, and VMAF. - Demonstrated experience collaborating with product teams to deliver user-centric infrastructure solutions. - Passion for media technology and staying ahead of trends, such as 8K and AI-driven workflows.
