Role Overview: As a Network Engineer at Northern Trust, you will report to the Network Manager and be recognized as a technical expert in networking engineering. Your primary focus will be on designing and implementing network changes while also providing support to the network operations team for complex issue troubleshooting. You will need to have experience working in high-impact environments where exceeding expectations is the norm. Key Responsibilities: - Define and document Network Engineering Standards - Create Low Level Design documents based on High Level Design requirements - Develop detailed Implementation Plans for engineering activities - Manage Procurement activities related to building and delivering new services - Ensure smooth Transition/Handover to Operations following Operational Acceptance Process - Handle Technical Lifecycle Management for Network & Communications services - Support Architecture in creating and maintaining a Delivery Roadmap for network engineering - Assist Architecture in scoping activities for High Level Design production - Support Architecture in conducting Proof of Concept activities - Keep skillsets relevant and up to date to deliver change and provide support - Provide escalation support to Operations for complex troubleshooting of Major Incidents - Offer on-call escalation support and work extended hours as needed Qualifications Required: - Minimum 8 years hands-on experience with network solutions in a global enterprise scale organization - Experience in design engineering and building resilient network solutions, preferably in finance or investment banking - Understanding of network principles, financial services business models, compliance standards, regulations, and laws - Knowledge of risk and compliance translation into effective network solutions - Familiarity with automation, orchestration, and scripting against an API - Strong understanding of Layer 2, Layer 3, and Layer 4-7 network technologies - Proficiency in using various testing tools, networking technologies, and techniques for troubleshooting complex technical problems Additional Company Details: As a Northern Trust partner, you will be part of a flexible and collaborative work culture within an organization committed to assisting the communities it serves.
