Lead Machine Learning Engineer

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer at UPS, you will be part of the UPS Data Science and Machine Learning team focusing on Cross Border logistics. Your role involves managing AI, ML, and GenAI applications, with a specific emphasis on continuous integration and deployment of optimal ML models and analytical systems. You will play a crucial role in the end-to-end lifecycle of AI models, from experimentation to deployment in production, requiring a strong background in prompt engineering and experience with Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform. Your key responsibilities will include leading the development and deployment of generative AI solutions, architecting scalable infrastructure for large-scale AI models, fine-tuning pre-trained models, implementing prompt engineering strategies, and managing the lifecycle of deployed models. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership, and ensuring responsible and ethical AI development are also essential aspects of this role. To qualify for this position, you should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, along with 5-8 years of hands-on experience in building and managing machine learning models. Proficiency in prompt engineering techniques, Python programming, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and experience with Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform are necessary. Additionally, familiarity with cloud computing platforms, MLOps practices, and version control systems is highly desirable. Having experience with model governance frameworks, ethical AI practices, generative AI use cases in the Logistics industry, and contributions to open-source projects will be considered advantageous. Keeping abreast of emerging trends in generative AI, reinforcement learning, and federated learning approaches is also beneficial for this role.
