Impact
This Patch Engineer position is essential for enforcing security standards, ensuring compliance, and protecting the organization from threats. The role is pivotal in setting up automation and best practices in patching, participating in vulnerability remediation, and providing direction and mentorship to junior associates
Key Deliverables
- Advanced Patch Management: Plan, implement, and manage the deployment of operating system patches, updates, including third party software updates across Windows 10, 11 and MacOS workstation environments using tools like MECM/MEMCM, BigFix, JAMF and PowerShell scripts.
- Complex Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve advanced system and patching issues that L1/L2 members escalate, ensuring developing/providing solution and stability.
- Workstation Administration: Manage and maintain Windows and Mac workstation environments, including patch management and vulnerability remediation.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure systems meet security standards, manage security policies, and maintain OS-level security compliance.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation for routine administrative and patching tasks, often using PowerShell.
- Patch Compliance and Optimization: Proactively monitor system patch health, performance, and availability, and implement enhancements to optimize resource allocation.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for for patching procedures, troubleshooting steps, and generate performance reports.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Working closely with various internal teams and OEM vendor to align with enterprise standards and address security threats and mentor junior members.
- Reporting: Prepare / report patch compliance reports /metrics as needed.
- Process/Standards: Adhere strictly to ITIL change, incident, and problem management for patch-related activities
Skills and Qualification
(Functional and Technical Skills)
Must have
- 7+ years of deep exposure in workstation patch management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance using various tools (MECM, BigFix, JAMF, Qualys, PowerShell scripting).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10, 11 and MacOS Operating Systems along with patch deployment and troubleshooting skills Able to understand issues from log files.
- Advanced knowledge of MECM, JAMF and BigFix architecture, deployment, and reporting.
- Strong knowledge over MECM (update SUGs and ADRs) and BigFix Baseline for patch deployments of workstation patches.
- Able to serve as the highest escalation point for complex issues that L1 and L2 support teams cannot resolve
- Strong understanding of third-party software updates (include Java) along with third party patching tools like PMPC, Ivanti etc.
- Strong proficiency in PowerShell for automation and system management; Should be able to create, modify, update complex scripts to build solutions.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues.
- Understanding and exposure to vulnerability management tools (Qualys).
- In-depth understanding of patching best practices, compliance, and IT security standards.
- Identify, understand and collaborate with OEM/Vendors to resolve patch related issues
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and best practices

Preferred Qualifications
- MS administration and JAMF Admin certification is a plus
- Experience working in the banking or financial services industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of network topology and security principles.
- Experience with enterprise applications specific to the banking industry.
- Knowledge of collaboration tools like Jira, or Confluence.
