Boult is a forward-looking consumer electronics brand focused on smart audio, wearables, accessories, and lifestyle tech. As founder, you (Varun) are building a productdesign driven culture that combines aesthetics, usability, brand storytelling and massmanufacturability. This role will be key in leading the industrial design vision for Boult, defining the design language, overseeing design execution and helping bring new products from concept to launch.

Role Summary

As the Industrial Design Manager, you will lead Boults industrial design function and team. Youll define the design strategy and productlanguage for our product lines (headphones, smartwatches, audio accessories etc), work crossfunctionally (engineering, product management, marketing, manufacturing) to translate user insights and brand values into compelling, manufacturable products. You’ll manage the end-to-end design process — from ideation and sketching to CAD/prototyping, tooling/DFM, approval, and launch. You’ll also build and mentor a highperforming design team and build the design culture at Boult.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive the design vision

  for multiple product categories. Be responsible for bringing together form, function, and user experience into cohesive and manufacturable designs.
• Lead new product design as well as CMF (Color, Material, Finish) exploration to deliver exceptional physical experiences that align with the brand’s identity.
  
• Engage deeply in user and market research, uncovering insights that shape design strategy and direction.
  
• Manage multiple parallel projects, collaborate with crossfunctional teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing), and oversee external design partners to ensure timely and highquality execution.
  
• Define and evolve the industrial design language & brand aesthetics for Boult’s product portfolio.
  
• Translate user insights, market trends, competitor benchmarks, brand values into product concepts, sketches, renderings, prototypes.
  
• Oversee CAD modelling, rapid prototyping, mockups and design validation (ergonomics, usability, form, finish, materials, sustainability).
  
• Work closely with manufacturing/sourcing teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, costeffective, meet quality/durability/sustainability targets (DFM/DFX).
  
• Manage the design team: recruit, mentor, set goals, review portfolios, ensure delivery timelines, maintain design quality standards.
  
• Develop and manage design processes, workflow, designreview cadence, design documentation, signoffs.
  
• Stay abreast of global design trends, material innovations, manufacturing techniques, sustainability practices and apply them to Boult’s products.
  
• Collaborate with marketing/branding to ensure product formlanguage aligns with brand storytelling and user experience.
  
• Foster a designdriven culture within Boult: ensure design is not an afterthought but embedded early in product development.
  
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritise, allocate resources, manage timeline risk, escalate issues.
  

Requirements

• Design thinker with over 6 years of experience

  in small-sized consumer product designs.

• Degree from NID Ahmedabad

  or an equivalent tier-1 design school.
• Strong aesthetic sensibility, technical understanding of materials and processes, and a collaborative mindset.

• Deep knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes (injection moulding, diecasting, sheetmetal, plastics, assembly), designformanufacture/assembly, cost & quality tradeoffs.
  
• Demonstrated ability to lead a design team and manage crossfunctional collaboration (engineering, sourcing, marketing, operations).
  
• Excellent communication & presentation skills (able to sell design concepts to senior leadership and stakeholders).
  
• Strong project management skills — ability to juggle several design projects, timelines, budgets, suppliers.
  
• Thoughtleadership: keeps updated with global design/consumer trends, sustainability practices, material innovation.
  
• Comfortable working in a fastpaced startup/scaleup environment, able to switch between strategic and handson design.

• Experience in audio/headphone, wearable (smartwatch/fitness), accessories consumer electronics sector.
  
• Understanding of global sourcing/manufacturing ecosystem (especially in India/Asia).
