Job
Description
As a Mechanical System Design & Engineering professional at Micron Technology, you will be responsible for developing detailed mechanical designs, equipment layouts, and technical drawings for various systems including piping, pressure vessels, HVAC, and rotating equipment. Your role will involve performing thermal, structural, and fluid dynamics analysis to optimize the performance of mechanical systems. Additionally, you will create 3D models, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics using advanced CAD software while selecting and specifying materials, piping, pumps, valves, compressors, and heat exchangers for industrial applications. In the area of Process & Utility System Design, you will be tasked with designing process piping, fluid transport, and mechanical utility systems for industries such as pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, and semiconductor manufacturing. Your responsibilities will include ensuring proper sizing, pressure drop analysis, and flow rate calculations for mechanical pipelines and equipment. Moreover, you will develop mechanical infrastructure for critical plant operations and perform stress analysis and dynamic simulations to maintain system integrity under operational loads. Your role will also involve Equipment Selection & Integration where you will select, design, and integrate rotating and static equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and heat exchangers into facility layouts. You will ensure proper foundation design, vibration analysis, and mechanical support structures for large-scale equipment, as well as develop equipment installation and maintenance guidelines to enhance plant reliability. Utilizing your skills in Advanced Digital Design & Coordination, you will employ software tools like AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, and Navisworks to create detailed 3D models and layouts for industrial plant construction. You will conduct clash detection and coordination with other engineering teams and use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to optimize mechanical system designs. Additionally, you will implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies to enhance mechanical system coordination. Ensuring Regulatory Compliance & Sustainability will be a key aspect of your role where you will need to ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards. You will integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into mechanical system designs to reduce operational costs and environmental impact, as well as conduct HAZOP and risk assessments to maintain safety and reliability standards. In terms of Project Coordination & Execution, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless execution of mechanical designs. Your responsibilities will include providing technical oversight and troubleshooting during project execution, as well as developing engineering reports, design justifications, and procurement specifications for mechanical components. To qualify for this role, you should hold a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution and possess 10-15 years of experience in mechanical design engineering for construction, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, or semiconductor manufacturing. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and cross-disciplinary coordination will be essential for success in this position.
