Job Description

This position is for a Lead Engineer - Design Engineer role within the GE9X Fan & Booster module at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Centre. The engineer will be responsible for hardware ownership, collaborating across functions, and addressing design challenges to resolve issues related to the Fan module engine hardware. The role emphasizes effective problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork to ensure successful outcomes.

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospace's multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Pushing the boundaries of innovation every day, engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview

  • Hardware ownership on Fan & Booster module hardware (structures and/or PMC composites)
  • Perform design and analysis tasks for Fan & Booster module hardware (structures and PMC composites) in the GE9X program, focusing on issue resolution, performance improvements, cost/weight reduction, durability, repair and producibility enhancements.
  • Address supplier challenges by resolving non-conformance and producibility issues related to engine parts manufacturing.
  • Independently manage technical projects of moderate complexity through effective collaboration.
  • Apply engineering and manufacturing expertise along with analytical thinking to execute technical projects that meet requirements and business objectives with minimal oversight.
  • Achieve targets for producibility, durability, repair, cost, performance, and weight.
  • Build strong networks with Commodity CTHs, cross-functional teams (Supply Chain, Repair, MAE, CTPs, and Shop technical teams) to drive successful outcomes.
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork by fostering a cooperative work environment and maintaining proactive communication internally and externally.
  • Utilize digital tools and data insights to inform decisions and drive appropriate actions.

Required Qualifications

  • MTech /MS/BTech/BE in Mechanical/Aerospace
  • 5+ years of relevant experience on Mechanical design/hardware ownership/ Finite element analysis of structure mechanical parts preferably in aircraft engine/gas turbine domain.
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
  • Strong Design & basic Manufacturing knowledge on structures & composite components

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Established project management skills
