Job Purpose (Significance Of The Role & Objectives)
As a Lead BIW Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design and development of chassis and structural components to ensure the overall structural integrity, safety, and performance of the vehicle.
Key Responsibilities And Deliverables
- Lead the design and development of chassis components, frame structures, subframes, and other structural elements using CAD software.
- Conduct detailed structural analysis and simulations to validate the designs for strength, durability, and stiffness.
- Oversee project assignments, provide technical direction, and ensure the team's success in meeting project objectives.

- Provide guidance to optimize designs and address any structural challenges.
- Work closely with other engineering teams, including powertrain, suspension, and body systems, to ensure seamless integration of chassis and structural components.
- Lead material selection for chassis and structural components based on performance requirements, cost considerations, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive testing procedures to validate the performance, safety, and durability of chassis and structural components.
- Ensure the team maintains detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and analysis reports.
- Prepare and present design reviews, progress reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Design relevant KPIs to measure and enhance the team's performance.
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 04 - 08 Years.
- Extensive experience in chassis and structural design, with a proven track record in leadership roles.
- Experience in Working with different modules of CAD software (solid modelling, sheet metal, surfacing, drawing, or drafting).
- Software skills: - solidworks/ UG NX.
- Strong understanding of structural analysis and simulation tools.
- In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and their impact on chassis and structural design.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to chassis and structural design.
- Good knowledge of homologation requirements (Crash Test etc.).
- Good knowledge of joining and fastening techniques (metal-metal, metal-composites).
