Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Setting up the lathe:This includes selecting appropriate tools, setting speeds and feeds, and ensuring the machine is properly calibrated.
Operating the lathe:This involves feeding material into the machine, controlling the cutting tools, and monitoring the machining process.
Reading and interpreting blueprints:Lathe operators need to understand technical drawings to determine the required dimensions and tolerances for the parts being produced.
Inspecting finished parts:Operators use various measuring tools to verify that the parts meet the specified dimensions and quality standards.
Performing maintenance:This may include routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to keep the machine in good working order.
Troubleshooting:Identifying and resolving issues that may arise during machining, such as tool breakage or dimensional inaccuracies.
Following safety procedures:Ensuring a safe working environment by adhering to established safety protocols.
Documenting production:Recording relevant data, such as material usage, cycle times, and inspection results.
