Lab Technician

As a Laboratory Technician at our Laboratory Services department, you will be responsible for conducting routine and specialized laboratory tests, analyzing samples, and assisting in the maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies. Your technical expertise is crucial to ensure accurate and reliable test results that contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Your key responsibilities will include collecting, labeling, and preparing specimens for testing, processing samples according to protocols, and maintaining accurate records of specimens and test results. You will perform various laboratory tests such as microbiological, hematological, biochemical, and immunological tests, operate laboratory instruments, interpret test results, and ensure quality control and equipment calibration for reliable outcomes. In addition, you will be responsible for regularly cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment, following laboratory safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and regulatory standards, and properly documenting test results and equipment maintenance. Monitoring and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, collaborating with other laboratory personnel and healthcare teams, and troubleshooting issues with laboratory tests or procedures are also part of your role. To qualify for this position, you should have an Associate Degree in Laboratory Technology or a related field, with a preference for a Bachelor's Degree, and certification from a recognized laboratory technician certification body. Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or research lab environment is preferred, along with knowledge and experience in laboratory techniques, testing, and equipment operation. Strong attention to detail, proficiency with laboratory instruments and technology, and excellent organizational and time management skills are essential for this role. Physically, you should be able to lift and move laboratory equipment or supplies, handle chemicals and biological materials safely, and stand, sit, or move for extended periods of time.
