Job Summary

The

Lab Facilitator

supports the effective and safe operation of the science laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and assisting teachers and students during practical sessions. The facilitator ensures that all science experiments and lab activities comply with health and safety standards, and helps create an engaging, hands-on learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lab Preparation & Support
Prepare chemicals, specimens, equipment, and other resources required for science practical classes (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
Assist teachers and students during laboratory sessions, providing technical support and guidance as needed.Set up and dismantle lab equipment before and after experiments.
  • Safety & Compliance
Maintain high standards of health and safety within the science labs.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and biological materials.Conduct routine safety checks and assist in emergency procedures like spill control or first aid.Keep safety data sheets (SDS/MSDS) and risk assessments updated and accessible.
  • Equipment & Inventory Management
Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure it is functional and safe.
Keep an accurate inventory of lab materials and request replenishment of consumables when needed.Ensure proper labeling and storage of all substances and apparatus.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain detailed records of experiments, chemical inventories, usage logs, and safety procedures.
Assist teachers in documenting practical work for student reports or internal assessments (especially in IB or IGCSE programs).
  • Curriculum & Instructional Support
Support practical components of science curricula such as IB (DP/MYP), Cambridge IGCSE/A-Levels, or national programs.
Collaborate with teachers to design and trial new experiments that align with curriculum goals.Help manage science fair materials, projects, or external science competitions.
  • Maintenance & Housekeeping
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory spaces.Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate repairs.Ensure that gas, water, and electricity supplies are safely operated and shut off when not in use.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Science (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or Laboratory Technology.Minimum 2 years of experience in a school or institutional laboratory setting.Knowledge of lab safety procedures and chemical handling protocols.Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Proficient in English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.Familiarity with international curricula such as IB, Cambridge, or American is desirable.

Working Hours
