Job Title: Lab Chemist Agricultural Commodities & Edible Oils Location: Kanpur Reports To: Quality Control Manager / Laboratory Head Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lab Chemist to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in analyzing agricultural commoditiesspecifically maize, rice, and wheatand edible oils. Proficiency in conducting tests for calcium, phosphorus, crude fat, sand & silica, as well as oil parameters such as color, bleach, free fatty acids (FFA), and oil percentage is essential. Key Responsibilities Agricultural Commodities Testing Crude Fat Determination: Utilize Soxhlet extraction or Mojonnier methods to quantify fat content in maize, rice, and wheat samples. Calcium & Phosphorus Analysis: Employ titrimetric methods to assess mineral content, ensuring nutritional compliance. Sand & Silica Content: Conduct gravimetric analysis to determine the presence of inert matter in grain samples. Edible Oils Analysis Color Measurement: Use spectrophotometric techniques to evaluate oil color, ensuring product consistency. Bleachability Test: Assess the oil's ability to be bleached, indicating its refinement level. Free Fatty Acids (FFA) Determination: Apply titrimetric methods to quantify FFA levels, indicating oil quality and stability. Oil Percentage Analysis: Calculate oil content in oilseeds or extracted products to determine yield and quality. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure all tests are performed following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with relevant quality standards. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory analyses. Prepare and calibrate laboratory equipment and reagents as per testing requirements. Assist in the development and validation of new testing methods. Reporting & Documentation Generate test reports and communicate findings to the quality control and production teams. Monitor and report on trends in test results to identify potential quality issues. Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
