Junior Research Associate - NGS

Job Responsibility: Molecular pre-natal testing [NGS]

1. Checking the specimens quality and integrity before processing and notify concerned person about any issues identified. Ensuring adequate clinical information in the accompanying requisition form.

2. Preparation of solutions, buffers distilled water & reagents as per lab procedure or manufactures instructing.

3. Review & follow instrument & reagent manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Ensuring timely and regular performance of Quality control & EQAP and documentation.

5. Corrective action documentation in case of failure in IQC or EQAP.

6. Perform routine maintenance of equipment’s and fill-up the maintenance logs on daily basis.

7. Recording the results, in respective log books/registers counterchecking and ensuring timely correct typing & Validation in LIMS.

8. Systematic filling of lab records for easy retrieval and maintaining records as per NABL/ISO/CAP requirements.

9. Constant monitoring of instruments for any breakdowns error flags and temperature & environment condition monitoring logs.

10. Reporting the breakdowns to Biomedical engineer / Administrative department.

11. Ensuring prompt processing and reporting of TAT& STAT samples.

12. Maintain departmental stock as per requirement by coordinating with Supply chain & store team.

13. Follow the system of receiving, consumption & discard of reagents as established by supply chain & top management.

14. Understanding clinical aspects of tests conducted in the section.

15. Follow laboratory procedure for BMW management.

16. Ensuring accuracy and correctness of results by strict compliance to the defined standard Operating procedure, calibration, quality control, procedure and training of the personnel.

17. Reagent Calibration for each new LOT & reagent LOT Verification for each new LOT/Shipment.

18. Perform DNA/RNA extraction from various sample types (blood, tissue, saliva, etc.)

19. Quantify and assess quality of nucleic acids using spectrophotometry, fluorometry, and electrophoresis.

20. Prepare sequencing libraries using standard or custom protocols.

21. Operate and maintain NGS instruments.

22. Monitor sequencing runs and perform basic troubleshooting when needed.

23. Comply with laboratory safety procedures and biosafety regulations.

24. Serve as the primary liaison between the Molecular/Genetics department and Histopathology and Hematology teams.

25. Coordinate the transfer and tracking of shared samples to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

26. Follow up on receipt and dispatch of FFPE (Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded) blocks and slides.

27. Maintain accurate records of block/sample movement and ensure proper documentation is completed.

28. Facilitate the process for tumor review by coordinating with pathologists.

29. Ensure that relevant samples and documents are made available for timely evaluation.

30. Maintain logs, update trackers, and ensure that all sample-related documentation complies with laboratory SOPs.

31. Drafting new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), updating existing ones as needed, and conducting regular reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.

32. Assist with report generation and interdepartmental case follow-up as needed.

33. Meticulous filing, maintaining records, generating data as per requirements of quality objectives of the department.

34. Participate in training & continual education programs conducted by organization and quality assurance team.
