Jr. Lighting Designer

Tungsten Studio is an independent architectural lighting design practice working in close collaboration with architects, designers, project managers, and developers to provide creative and innovative Lighting Design Solutions. We work across a broad spectrum of sectors including exterior, hospitality, residential, retail, and commercial.

Were looking for equally ambitious Junior lighting designers to join our team. You must be a team player, have lots of initiative, and a passion for light. Salary commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1-2 years experience in the design profession with knowledge of AutoCAD, and Photoshop.
• Must be from a design background.
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop is a must.

Responsibilities

The junior lighting designer collaborates with project managers, senior lighting designers, and other team members to develop a design that combines the creative expertise of all team members. The junior lighting designer plays an integral role in supporting the design team by:

• Producing architectural drawings using software tools such as AutoCAD or Revit.
• Preparing, schedules, specifications, and other required documentation
• Preparing lighting calculations on Dialux.
• Creating and working with models, mock-ups, and prototypes.
• Working with senior designers and project managers to provide excellent lighting design services to clients.
• Helping analyze and select lighting from appropriate sources.

Other duties may include client communication and traveling for meetings and site visits to ensure that the lighting installations are in compliance with the design document.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in architecture, interiors, lighting, or related field.
• Great interpersonal skills.
• Polished communication skills (both verbal & and writing).
• Highly organized and composed under pressure.
• Proven time management ability: able to manage strict timelines with multiple projects in order to meet deadlines under a high-pressure environment.
• Documented participation in a program or project.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Basic working knowledge of Adobe Suite.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Good working knowledge of Dialux will be preferred.
• Knowledge of REVIT will be preferred.
• Possesses a keen eye for detail.
