Diagnosis and Treatment: Neonatologists diagnose and treat a variety of conditions in newborns, including breathing difficulties, infections, birth defects, and other complications. Intensive Care: They provide specialized care in NICUs, where they manage and stabilize critically ill or premature infants. Coordination of Care: Neonatologists work with other healthcare professionals, such as pediatricians, nurses, and specialists in areas like cardiology or surgery, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for newborns. Monitoring and Follow-up: They monitor the progress of their patients, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and may provide follow-up care on an outpatient basis after the baby is discharged from the hospital. Family Support: They also offer emotional and educational support to parents, helping them understand their baby's condition and the care they require. Research and Education: Some neonatologists are involved in research to improve neonatal care and may also educate other healthcare professionals.
