Position - Piping - Material Engineer

Job Description -

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and update material specifications, material selection diagrams (MSD), and engineering datasheets.
• Ensure material selection meets service conditions and corrosion requirements.
• Develop Material Take-Offs (MTO) and Bill of Materials (BOM).
• Ensure compliance with ASME II, V, VIII, B31.3, ASTM, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, API, and other standards.
• Interpret and integrate client standards (Shell DEP, Aramco, ADNOC, BP, Exxon, etc.).
• Review vendor documents for materials compliance.
• Support Piping/Mechanical teams in material-related clarifications.
• Provide guidance on corrosion protection, insulation, painting/coating systems, and weld procedures.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, 30/60/90 model reviews, and technical meetings.
• Prepare material requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with vendors for queries related to metallurgy, PMI, heat treatment, and testing requirements.
• Support procurement during vendor selection and FAT/SAT activities.
• Maintain material specifications through Concept, FEED, and EPC phases.
• Ensure consistency across P&IDs, line lists, piping classes, valve datasheets, and MR packages.
• Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.

Education +Experience

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Materials Engineering (or equivalent).
• 7–15 years of experience in materials engineering for Oil & Gas / LNG / Refining projects.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of metallurgy, corrosion mechanisms, and degradation.
• Expertise in ASME, API, ASTM, and NACE standards.
• Experience preparing piping material classes, valve material specifications, coatings, and insulation specs.
• Familiarity with AVEVA E3D or SmartPlant Materials is an advantage.
