Job Description

Jewellery Sales Assistant – Key Job Roles & Responsibilities

1. Customer Service & Sales

  • Greet customers warmly and build rapport.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend suitable jewellery.
  • Explain product details such as metal purity, gemstone quality, certifications, pricing, offers, etc.
  • Assist customers with trying on jewellery (earrings, necklaces, bangles, rings).
  • Provide upselling and cross-selling suggestions.
  • Handle customer queries and resolve issues politely.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction to encourage repeat business.

2. Product Knowledge

  • Maintain strong knowledge of:
  • Gold (karats, hallmarking)
  • Diamonds (4Cs—Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat)
  • Gemstones
  • Latest fashion/jewellery trends
  • Making charges & pricing structure
  • Explain authenticity certificates (e.g., hallmark, GIA, IGI).

3. Billing & Documentation

  • Prepare accurate bills using POS systems.
  • Handle cash, card, UPI, and financing/EMI transactions.
  • Maintain purchase records and customer data.
  • Assist with warranty/guarantee paperwork.

4. Merchandising & Display

  • Arrange jewellery in showcases attractively.
  • Keep counters clean, organized, and well-lit.
  • Update window displays for festivals, promotions, and new arrivals.
  • Tag and label jewellery items correctly.

5. Stock & Inventory Management

  • Assist with stock counting (daily/weekly).
  • Track inventory movement and report low-stock items.
  • Ensure jewellery is stored and handled safely.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing stock with proper documentation.

6. Security & Safety

  • Follow store security protocols.
  • Ensure secure handling of high-value items.
  • Maintain vigilance to prevent theft or damage.

7. Store Maintenance

  • Keep the store clean and welcoming.
  • Maintain uniform and grooming standards.
  • Ensure hygiene and orderliness in display areas.

8. Communication & Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with store managers and team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, product training, and sales briefings.
  • Communicate customer feedback to management.

9. Professionalism & Grooming

  • Maintain neat and presentable appearance.
  • Follow dress code (formal attire, minimal accessories).
  • Demonstrate polite and respectful behaviour.

10. Additional Duties

  • Assist during festive seasons or promotional events.
  • Provide after-sales service such as resizing or polishing coordination.
  • Handle gift packing and customization requests.
