Java Development Manager

As a Java Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of developers dedicated to creating enterprise-grade applications using Java and related technologies. Your role involves overseeing the full software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices in architecture and code quality, and collaborating closely with various teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions. Your key responsibilities will include leading, mentoring, and managing a team of Java developers, defining coding standards, enforcing best practices, and conducting code reviews. You will be in charge of managing the software development lifecycle using Agile or Scrum methodologies, architecting and designing high-performance backend services and APIs, and guiding the team in utilizing Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate. Additionally, you will drive the adoption of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs, evaluate and integrate open-source and third-party tools, collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD pipelines, and ensure code quality, security, and scalability through automated testing and monitoring. Performance tuning, profiling, and system optimization will also be part of your responsibilities, along with working closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 12+ years of experience in Java development, including backend systems. You should have at least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams or technical projects and expertise in Java 8 or later, Spring Framework, Hibernate/JPA, RESTful APIs, JSON, and web services integration. Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) is required, as well as proficiency in Git, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle, and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, is also desirable. Exposure to front-end frameworks such as Angular or React, familiarity with event-driven architecture (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), knowledge of domain-driven design and design patterns, and Java-related certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Spring certifications) are considered secondary qualifications that would be beneficial for this role.
