Role & responsibilities

• Provide technical skills to effect repairs and maintain site assets.
• Provide plant and process problem solving skills within area of expertise to optimise manufacturing equipment availability and keep production downtime to a minimum.
• Some issues may require further advice and investigation. The role will predominately involve routine and standard tasks with infrequent supervision.
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal customers to ensure that work is implemented in a safe and timely manner. Attend site meetings, risk assessment studies and review meetings as required. Use computer systems for planned and reactive maintenance activities. The role requires occasional and limited influence.
• This role carries no line management responsibilities but the post holder will be expected to work both as part of a small team and on their own depending on the tasks being performed.
• The person may be expected to coach and advise less experienced employees and contractors e.g. apprentices. Use planning skills in order to carry out daily maintenance and small project tasks in a safe, healthy and environmentally acceptable manner. Identify materials and equipment required to rectify faults and breakdowns.
• To identify risk potential and problems and carry out job risk assessments, for example in high hazard plant, to the appropriate standard. Ensure compliance with the relative legislative and site codes and standards within the scope of the role and be accountable for their own Health and Safety and those around them who could be affected by their actions. Prepares history card for each equipment. Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance & safety standards. Carry out approved improvements.
• Carry out predictive maintenance activities like vibration monitoring, Temperature etc on moving mechanical parts like gearboxes, bearings etc, etc. and maintain records of it. Attend all breakdowns and undertake repairs as required.
• Trouble shooting should be fast and effective. To attend leakages, decouple equipment, disconnect or connect pipe lines, flange joints as per the request and clearance from shift in charge.
• Feedback to Maintenance supervisor or Manager for any follow-up required and help in identification of the root cause of the problems.
• Check quality of delivered mechanical spares required to complete maintenance in time Undertake all maintenance tasks safely with appropriate PPE & procedures Adhere to safe working practices such as working at height regulations like all equipment / motor guard are fitted securely.
• Ensure equipment is correctly isolated (LOTO procedures) when maintenance is carried out. Identify & report any unsafe working conditions/ machine faults

Preferred candidate profile

• To be able to work on own initiative or in a team and interact effectively with others.
• To be able to work to a high and consistent standard paying particular attention to detail. Knowledge of preventive & predictive maintenance.
• To be able to read drawings and record and communicate data accurately in paper and computer systems.
• To have a good understanding of site plant and processes. Exposure and knowledge of Reactors, agitators, pumps, mechanical seal etc
