Instrument Designer and Maker

You will be joining an independent instrument-making studio, Swarlay, located in Nagpur. Swarlay is dedicated to crafting handmade percussion and string instruments that blend innovation with tradition. Each instrument is meticulously created with love, patience, and precision, incorporating elements of rhythm, acoustics, and natural materials. The primary mission of Swarlay is to design instruments that not only deliver exceptional sound quality but also narrate a unique story and spark creativity. As an Instrument Designer and Maker intern, you will play a crucial role in the design and production of musical instruments. Your responsibilities will include actively participating in cutting, shaping, finishing, and testing instruments. You will collaborate closely with musicians to refine designs and enhance acoustics, bridging the gap between woodwork, sound, and form. To excel in this position, you should possess a profound passion for music, rhythm, and sound design. While prior knowledge of musical instruments is beneficial, a strong curiosity and willingness to learn are equally valued. Hands-on experience or a keen interest in mastering woodworking tools for cutting and shaping is essential.
