Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Collect and interpret data on nosocomial infection through daily surveillances, to include culture reports, temperature charts and isolation orders.
Prepare and distribute reports of finding to the Infection Control Committees & to include interpretations, projection of trends and appropriate recommendations.
Collect data in support of epidemiological studies of specific problems or problem areas to determine source of the problem & provide recommendations.
Develop, update and initiate isolation techniques & procedures in accordance with current standards.
Evaluate the effectiveness of surveillance plan and compliance to infection control practices and modifies as necessary.
Report needle stick injuries and outbreak.
Participate in maintaining policies and procedure which provides for preventive medicine.
Participate in establishment of policies related to exposure to infectious diseases, prevention of cross contamination & microbiological sampling of patients & personnel.
Plan, organise & conduct educational programs for hospital employees.
Act as a source of reference & provide information relating to the field of infection control.
Assist in organising scheduled Hospital Infection Control Meetings & Events.

Desired Candidate Profile

3-8 years of experience as an Infection Control Nurse (ICN) or equivalent role.
B.Sc / GNM degree in Nursing;
Strong knowledge of IC standards, ICN guidelines, nursing education principles, and hospital operations.
