Role & responsibilities 1. Provide inputs for Quality Control department budget & ensure adherence to the same 2. Experience of working in NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accredited lab in a fertilizer plant 3. Work with other internal departments i.e. Production etc. to develop and implement quality control procedures and processes for all existing & new products 4. Ensure analysis of raw materials and finished products as per FCO (Fertilizer Control Order) and other relevant regulatory requirements 5. To manage the NABL accredited lab in fertilizer plant 6. Provide inputs for developing new product standards/specifications, production SOPs, sampling protocols & quality processes to ensure focus on quality and continuous process improvement 7. Manage, plan and direct the laboratories to ensure highest quality analytical support for manufacturing while ensuring compliance with set protocols and regulations 8. Liaise with the Production department to understand the periodic production schedule and QC requirements; plan the work for the department accordingly 9. Liaise with the other internal departments (Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Stores etc.) to ensure that Quality Control team is provided with samples on time for testing 10. Preparation and reconciliation of subsidy claims under the Department of Fertilizers, handling DBT portal activities, and coordinating with marketing and government agencies. Manage product costing, variance analysis, MIS reporting, and ensure compliance with statutory and internal control requirements
Key Responsibilities- DCS Operation & Monitoring: Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) for the Ammonia section, continuously monitoring all process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and concentration to ensure efficient and safe plant operations. Process Control: Adjust and control process variables based on real-time data and production plans, maintaining optimal yield and product quality as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Troubleshooting & Alarm Management: Analyze DCS alarms and process disturbances, diagnose issues, and coordinate with field operators and maintenance teams to resolve abnormalities or plant upsets. Start-up and Shutdowns: Direct and execute safe plant start-up, normal operations, shutdowns (routine and emergency) from the DCS console, following company SOPs and safety protocols. Coordination: Liaise closely with shift engineers, field operators, and maintenance teams for efficient operation and upkeep of the ammonia plant. Documentation: Maintain accurate operational logs, compile reports on process parameters, incidents, and interventions, and document all control room activities for audits and continuous improvement. Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Participate in safety drills and incident investigations as required. 48 years experience in Ammonia Plant DCS/Panel Operation in a fertilizer or petrochemical plant. Experience in large-capacity steam reforming ammonia plants (Haldor Topsoe / KBR) preferred.

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for trips, failures, and chronic issues. Support operations team in stabilizing plant operations and resolving bottlenecks. C. Process Monitoring & Data Analysis Monitor critical process parameters, daily trends, and weekly performance KPIs. Conduct heat & material balance calculations and performance benchmarking. Review catalyst performance, equipment efficiency (e.g., ejectors, pumps, compressors), and utility consumption. D. Projects, Modifications & Technology Upgradation Identify and implement debottlenecking and plant capacity enhancement projects. Prepare technical specifications for new equipment, process modifications, and plant improvement projects. Coordinate with licensors (e.g., Saipem, Stamicarbon, Toyo) for process studies and technical clarifications. Evaluate new technologies, catalysts, and process improvements for plant modernization. E. Shutdown / Turnaround Support Prepare technical scope for plant shutdown activities. Support inspection, catalyst activation/reduction, and equipment performance checks. Provide technical validation and acceptance testing after restart. F. Safety, Environment & Compliance Ensure compliance with environmental norms (NH emissions, urea dust, effluent standards). Participate in HAZOP, HIRA, SIL studies, and safety audits. Review and update SOPs, interlocks, and emergency procedures. G. Experience 1020 years experience in Urea Plant Technical Services / Process Engineering in a fertilizer/petrochemical industry. Strong exposure to Stamicarbon / Saipem / Toyo / Casale urea technology is preferred. 5. Key Skills & Competencies Deep understanding of Urea process (synthesis, stripper, HP/MP/LP stages, evaporation, prilling/granulation). Expertise in process calculations, HAZOP, PSM, and RCA. Strong background in energy optimization & plant efficiency improvements. Experience in troubleshooting and stabilization after trips or start-up. Analytical, leadership, and cross-functional coordination skills. Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., HYSYS/UniSim) is an added advantage. 6.
