ICU Doctor / Intensivist / Physician (Contract Basis)

1. Position Summary

Multispeciality Hospital in Daund, Pune

The role requires strong clinical judgment, technical procedural skills, emergency management capability, and effective communication with relatives and the treating team.

2. Roles & Responsibilities

A. ICU Management

• Independently perform complete ICU rounds.
  
• Assess, monitor, and manage all critically ill patients.
  
• Ventilator setup, mode selection, titration, and troubleshooting.
  
• Oxygen therapy and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) management.
  
• Inotropic and vasopressor management.
  
• Fluid & electrolyte balance assessment and correction.
  
• Management of sepsis, ARDS, shock, electrolyte imbalance, cardiac emergencies, stroke, poisoning, trauma stabilization, etc.
  
• Handle emergency situations (Code Blue, CPR, ACLS protocols).
  

B. Mandatory ICU Procedures (Independent Competency Required)

The candidate must be able to perform the following:

• Endotracheal

  Intubation

• Central Venous Line

  insertion (IJV, Subclavian, Femoral)

• ICD (Intercostal Drain)

  insertion

• Hemodialysis Catheter

  insertion (Femoral/Jugular)

• Arterial Line

  insertion

• Lumbar Puncture

  (desirable)

• ABG sampling

  & interpretation

• Ryle’s tube, Foley catheterization

• Bedside ultrasound

  (preferred but not mandatory)

C. Documentation & Communication

• Maintain accurate case notes, treatment plans, and daily progress charts.
  
• Communicate clinical updates to patient relatives.
  
• Coordinate with consultants, nurses, paramedics, and emergency staff.
  
• Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, NABH guidelines, and safety standards.
  

D. Team Coordination

• Supervise nursing staff and junior doctors.
  
• Participate in ICU audits, mortality & morbidity meetings.
  
• Support emergency medical services and casualty team when needed.
  

3. Required Qualifications

Eligible Degrees

• MBBS

  with ICU experience

• MD Medicine / DNB Medicine / MD Anaesthesia / DNB Critical Care

• Intensivist (IDCCM/IFCCM preferred but not mandatory)

• Physician (MD/DNB)

• BHMS / BAMS

  with minimum 1–3 years ICU experience

Licenses

• Valid

  Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC)

  registration mandatory for MBBS/MD/DNB.
• Valid state council registration for BHMS/BAMS.
  

4. Experience Requirements

• Fresher MD/DNB

  candidates may apply if confident in ICU procedures.
• MBBS/BHMS/BAMS candidates must have

  1–3 years of ICU experience

• Prior experience in multispeciality hospital ICU preferred.
  

5. Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of emergency and critical care medicine.
  
• Hands-on procedural competency and confidence.
  
• Good communication and bedside manner.
  
• Ability to work in high-pressure clinical situations.
  
• Ability to manage ICU independently during shifts.
  
• Professionalism and adherence to medical ethics.
  

6. Work Schedule

• Shift-based duty (8/12/24 hours depending on requirement).
  
• Night shifts and emergency calls may be required.
  
• Contract duration:

  6 months / 12 months (extendable based on performance)
