Role Description As a WordPress / PHP Developer , you’ll be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing custom WordPress plugins, themes, and backend features. This is not a basic theme setup role — you’ll work on: custom plugin development (OAuth, REST APIs, cron jobs, database integrations) high-performance themes with modular, maintainable code secure, scalable backend logic for WordPress sites and SaaS-style tools Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain custom WordPress plugins (using procedural PHP or OOP as required). Build and extend custom themes using Gutenberg, ACF, or block development tools. Integrate with external APIs (Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, etc.). Write secure, optimized PHP/MySQL code following WordPress coding standards. Implement CRON-based background tasks and admin UI pages. Troubleshoot and optimize performance (Core Web Vitals, caching, queries). Collaborate with designers and front-end developers (React/JS knowledge is a plus). Version control and deployment via Git. Write clean documentation and inline comments for maintainability. Required Skills Strong knowledge of PHP , MySQL , and WordPress core architecture Experience with plugin and theme development from scratch Familiar with WP REST API , AJAX , and hooks/filters Proficient with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6) Understanding of security best practices (sanitization, nonce, escaping) Comfortable working with cPanel / SSH / Git Debugging using Query Monitor , WP_DEBUG , or browser DevTools Solid understanding of WordPress database schema Good to Have (Bonus Points) Experience with OAuth 2.0 integrations (Google, Meta, etc.) Knowledge of React / Vue for admin UI improvements Familiarity with Composer , npm , and build tools Previous work on multisite or SaaS-like WordPress projects Experience with hosting migrations and DevOps basics (cron, staging) Contribution to open-source projects or plugins Soft Skills Attention to detail and willingness to write maintainable, commented code Strong problem-solving and debugging mindset Good communication and ability to collaborate in a small, focused team Willingness to learn new technologies and follow coding standards
