Key Responsibilities: The Medical Officer at the Palliative Healthcare Centre is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses. This role involves managing complex medical conditions, addressing symptoms, and enhancing the quality of life for patients while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team. Patient Care: Conduct thorough assessments of patients to determine their medical needs and develop individualized care plans. Provide direct medical care, including the management of symptoms, pain relief, and treatment of complications related to terminal illnesses. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Symptom Management: Address and manage symptoms such as pain,nausea, fatigue, and other distressing conditions in patients with life-limiting illnesses. Utilize appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to improve patient comfort and quality of life. Care Coordination: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team,including nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to discuss care plans, treatment options, and end-of-life decisions. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient, documenting assessments, treatments, and patient responses. Prepare and review reports as required, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. Patient and Family Support: Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and helping them navigate the palliative care process. Educate patients and families about the disease progression, care options, and available resources. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the standard of care provided by the palliative healthcare centre. Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines. Education and Training: Stay current with advancements in palliative care and medical practices through continuous professional development. Mentor and support junior medical staff and contribute to educational activities within the center. Qualifications: Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
