Work on an end-to-end qualitative research project including: Conduct in-depth literature reviews tapping into different types of sources depending on the project. Conduct fieldwork of qualitative interviews and FGDs with stakeholders across various projects, making regular field visits (can be to both urban and rural areas) to collect data. Plan fieldwork and data collection for projects based on the requirements. Create or support the creation and review of the data collection tools (qualitative interview questionnaires). Identify participants based on apt sampling techniques. Work on qualitative data analysis and synthesis process. Assist in the creation of reports of the work undertaken and other outcome collaterals. Ensure project documentation is well-maintained, including designing, maintaining, and tracking field reports/project logs in Google documents and spreadsheets Work closely with other team members in collaboration to create comprehensive collaterals as required. Qualification & Experience: (The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role) Essential Qualifications: A degree (or currently pursuing) in social sciences (Economics, Development Studies, International Development, Anthropology, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Sociology, Social Work, etc.) or allied areas. Demonstrated hands-on experience with all aspects of the qualitative research cycle (including fieldwork, literature review, data collection, data analysis, and report writing). Experience using at least two or more qualitative research design methods such as ethnography, case study, grounded theory, phenomenology, narrative inquiry, etc. Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders, including groups with little or no background in qualitative research and design. Excellent interpersonal and written, visual, and verbal communication skills. Passionate about tackling complex social and organizational challenges. Ability to work in a team, manage multiple projects on the ground, review and prioritize work independently, and be self-motivated. Ability to complete assigned tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work. Role Summary: Good Business Lab (GBL) is looking to develop a transport solution that improves mobility and safety for women workers in industrial clusters in India. This solution aims to improve mobility, safety, and accessibility for women, while fostering collaboration between firms to enable cost-sharing and operational viability. We are seeking applications from qualified consultants with demonstrated expertise in transportation systems, gender-responsive mobility planning, and human-centered design to develop an operational pilot design for a pooled transport model that is worker-centric , operationally sound, and financially sustainable. You will be responsible for: The selected consultant will lead the design and development of the transport solution , while working in close collaboration with GBL’s research, project management, and design teams . While the internal team will support with data collection, stakeholder engagement, and co-design activities, the consultant will be the primary owner of the solution development , responsible for translating insights into a technically and financially viable transport model. The consultant will own and drive the transport solution design from inception to delivery, with support from GBL’s internal teams. Key responsibilities include: 1. Pre-Work and Planning Review and refine the project workplan based on relevant global and regional best practices in gender-responsive transportation. Participate in the project kickoff and contribute to a collaborative literature review on gender mobility challenges and existing transport models. 2. Firm & Cluster Identification Provide inputs to define firm and location selection criteria. Work closely with GBL and industry bodies to assess firm readiness and cluster suitability Support strategic engagement with potential firm partners to encourage participation. 3. Current State Assessment Lead the diagnostic of existing mobility patterns, constraints, and infrastructure within the selected cluster. Design and interpret field research (to be implemented by GBL) including surveys, focus groups, and interviews with women workers. Synthesize findings to inform proposed transportation solution 4. Solution Design Map worker home and workplace locations Design viable transport routes, fleet types, and scheduling options tailored to women's safety, comfort, and convenience. Facilitate participatory design sessions to test and iterate on solution concepts with end users. Refine the proposed model based on user feedback and logistical constraints. 5. Operational Planning Develop a detailed operational model covering: Inter-firm coordination mechanism Scheduling protocols Fleet and passenger load management Create a robust financial model illustrating the cost structure and cost-sharing strategies among firms 6.
