Job Description

Role Overview: As the Global Clinical Operations (GCO) Budget Associate Director, you will be responsible for independently providing accurate actual spend vs. endorsed budget for each assigned Clinical Trial Team (CTT) in accordance with the Operational Execution Plan (OEP) requirements. It will be your duty to maintain a realistic study level budget forecast at all times, offering a clear overview of planned monthly, quarterly, and yearly spending to the organization, including Senior Management and Finance. Additionally, you will be accountable for aligning reports with assigned OEP requirements and ensuring compliance with GCO governance, such as the Operational Excellence Board (OEB). Furthermore, you will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Budget Practice Area related products, leading project teams independently to enhance processes, systems, and governance. Key Responsibilities: - Lead all operational and strategical aspects of budget management for assigned CTTs collaboratively. - Provide status updates, realistic forecasts, and timely reports for financial slide decks reflecting endorsed trial lifetime vs. actual spend. - Analyze variances in spend and provide clear rationale and outlook, leading process improvements to minimize spend differences. - Update clinical work packages in source systems (Dynamo, Horizon). - Manage scope changes from endorsed lifetime spend, accurately represent rationale and root causes, and prepare for GCO financial governance board presentations. - Identify opportunities for cost avoidance at the trial and portfolio levels. Qualification Required: - Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or CRO with detailed technical expertise in clinical research budget management. - Strong background in clinical and budgeting/finance within Pharma research or CRO, with a deep understanding of clinical trial development processes and management. - Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting requirements and associated technology for improved tracking accuracy. - Demonstrated experience in developing optimization solutions and complex mathematical models. - Proven track record in developing technology-based products or services like dashboards and analytical insights. - Proficiency in oral and written English.
