The Design Lead is required to have an overall knowledge of equipment layouts and necessary calculations. The Design Lead should also have detailed knowledge of Substation equipment and their Layouts. Furthermore, she / he should have the understanding of primary engineering activities covering SLD Preparation, Layout Engineering, Earthing, Cable Routing, Lighting, Lightning Protection, Cable Tray Routing etc. He should be capable of performing design & sizing calculations of Busbar, UPS, DG, LT Transformer, Earthing Conductor, calculations (Short circuit force, Sag tension, CCC etc.). The Design Lead is required to have knowledge on National and International Codes and Standards. The Design Lead is required to understand and interpret the contractual technical requirements and facilitate the Project Teams as and when required. In addition, the Design Lead (Substation) should also have an overall understanding of the inter- disciplinary (Civil & Structural, Mechanical and Instrumentation) design aspects of electrical equipment.
