GIS Internship Program

Role Overview: You will be participating in a 3-month internship at Ruthvik Infotech, where the main objective is to provide hands-on training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The focus will be on spatial data management, analysis, and visualization, enabling you to apply GIS tools to real-world problems. The internship is divided into three months, each focusing on different aspects of GIS. Key Responsibilities: - Learn the basics of GIS, including spatial vs. non-spatial data, raster vs. vector, and GIS applications in urban planning, environment, and utilities. - Receive software training on QGIS/ArcGIS, including installation, interface navigation, and data import/export. - Work with various data sources such as open data, satellite imagery, shapefiles, and geodatabases to create basic maps and symbology. - Engage in spatial analysis techniques like buffering, overlay, and network analysis, along with georeferencing maps and digitization. - Gain knowledge on Remote Sensing (RS) concepts such as satellite imagery, resolution, sensors, and image classification techniques. - Learn GPS basics for field data collection and integration into GIS for projects. - Explore GIS applications in urban planning, disaster management, agriculture, and the environment, as well as an introduction to Web GIS (ArcGIS Online). - Collaborate in a group project where you will choose a domain (e.g., flood risk mapping, site suitability, traffic analysis), collect and process data, perform spatial analysis, and prepare final maps, reports, and presentations. Qualifications Required: - Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Geography, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science, or related fields. - Familiarity with GIS concepts and tools like QGIS/ArcGIS is preferred. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work well in a team and independently. - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
