Job Description

Role & responsibilities Proficiency in web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and various web frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) for building interactive and responsive web applications. Expertise in GIS software and tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or open-source GIS libraries (e.g., GDAL) to manipulate, analyse, and visualize geospatial data. Familiarity with mapping libraries such as Leaflet, Map box, or Open Layers for creating interactive maps within web applications. Knowledge of geospatial data formats, including shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, and raster formats like Geo TIFF. Proficiency in working with geospatial databases, including PostgreSQL with PostGIS extension, Oracle Spatial, or MongoDB for storing and querying spatial data. Capability to perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing tasks, such as spatial queries, buffer operations, and network analysis. Experience in integrating with external APIs, including geocoding, routing, and weather data services, to enhance the functionality of GIS applications. Skills in data visualization techniques, using charts, graphs, and other visual elements to present geospatial information effectively. Ensuring that GIS web applications are responsive and accessible on various devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. Proficiency in using version control systems like Git for collaboration and code management. Experience in implementing geospatial analysis and modelling functions to derive insights and answers from the data. Experience in ensuring the security of geospatial data and web applications, including access controls and data encryption. Experience in developing the server-side components and APIs necessary to handle spatial data storage, retrieval, and processing.
