General Manager Production -Aerospace industry

Job Description

Job Purpose: The General Manager Production will lead and manage the end-to-end production operations in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The incumbent will oversee Production, Design, Quality Assurance, and Production Planning & Control (PPC), while also playing a key role in client interaction, project planning, cost estimation, and the development of new aerospace programs. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Production Management: Lead day-to-day production operations ensuring optimal efficiency, output, and quality. Implement best practices in aerospace manufacturing with a focus on lean production and continuous improvement. Ensure adherence to aerospace standards, safety regulations, and company quality benchmarks. Design & Development: Coordinate with the design team on new product development and modifications. Review and approve design changes and ensure manufacturability of new components. Support the resolution of design-related issues arising from the production floor. Quality & Compliance: Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO, and other aerospace standards. Analyze root causes of production rejections and initiate corrective and preventive actions. Drive quality improvement initiatives across the plant. Client Interaction: Interface with domestic and international clients for technical discussions, new work orders, and project updates. Handle client escalations related to quality, design, or delivery. Provide inputs during client audits and technical reviews. Project & Program Management: Oversee the planning and execution of new aerospace programs, including resource allocation and scheduling. Coordinate cross-functional teams to meet timelines and performance goals. Cost Estimation & Quotation: Prepare accurate cost estimates and support the commercial team in quotation finalization. Evaluate and optimize production costs to maintain profitability. Production Planning & Control (PPC): Ensure effective scheduling, material planning, and inventory control to meet production targets. Monitor KPIs and take proactive measures to address deviations in productivity, efficiency, and output. Desired Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Excellent understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and industry standards. Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with global clients. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems. Qualification & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Production Engineering (Master's preferred). 10+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing with a proven track record in leadership roles. Experience working with international clients and cross-functional teams.
