Two major trends in the automotive industry the shift to electric vehicles and vehicles with autonomous safety technologies have created unique opportunities for Visteon. We are the only automotive provider focused exclusively on cockpit electronics the fastest-growing segment in the industry.
We are seeking a highly skilled Automotive Functional Safety Expert with extensive experience working on ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) C and D systems. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive safety standards, especially ISO 26262, and a solid background in software development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage functional safety activities for ASIL C and ASIL D classified systems.
- Develop and implement safety concepts and safety analyses, including HARA (Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis), and FTA (Fault Tree Analysis).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and systems engineers, to ensure safety requirements are integrated and met throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Support the development of safety-related software according to ISO 26262, ensuring compliance with safety standards and guidelines.
- Create and maintain safety work products such as safety plans, safety cases, and safety validation reports.
- Provide expertise and guidance on safety-critical software development, including safety mechanisms, redundancy, and diagnostic coverage.
- Coordinate with customers and suppliers on functional safety requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in automotive functional safety engineering, specifically with ASIL C and D systems.
- Strong understanding of ISO 26262 and its application in automotive safety projects.
- Proven experience in safety analysis techniques (HARA, FMEA, FMEDA, FTA).
- Solid software development experience, particularly in safety-critical systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Certification in Functional Safety (e.g., TV, Exida) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with model-based design and development tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
- Familiarity with hardware safety concepts and microcontroller architectures.
- Experience in developing and managing safety-related work products.
