Forward Deployed Engineering Manager

Role Overview: CommerceIQ is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to work closely with the founders and AI Product Manager to prototype and deploy AI-driven solutions. This is a founding engineering role with high visibility and you will report directly to the co-founder. You will collaborate with the executive leadership team, engage with enterprise customers, and help shape the company's forward deployed engineering function. Key Responsibilities: - Foster a growing team of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), attract talent, and build a strong team to set up the FDE function for success at scale. - Build prototypes with customers, understand real-world problems, scope use cases, and create working prototypes. - Integrate data from different sources and build AI agents to solve specific use cases. - Lead customer-facing demonstrations and proof-of-concepts, tune models using feedback loops to ensure measurable outcomes. - Collaborate with engineering teams to transform prototypes into robust features and ensure long-term customer success. - Develop deep empathy for customers" business drivers, serve as their advocate, and handle high-stakes conversations. Qualifications Required: - Player/coach with the ability to attract, hire, and develop a strong team of FDEs while being hands-on in engineering. - Experienced engineer with 5-8 years of experience in software development, comfortable coding in Python or Java, and learning new technologies quickly. - Skills in full-stack development, data integration, customer-facing problem-solving, rapid prototyping, and global collaboration. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
