Fortinet Firewall L2 Engineer

As an experienced Fortinet Firewall L2 Engineer joining our IT security team, you will be responsible for managing, configuring, and troubleshooting Fortinet firewall devices to ensure the security and integrity of our organization's network infrastructure. Your expertise in firewall policies, VPNs, and network security protocols, along with hands-on experience with FortiGate, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer, will be crucial in this role. Key Responsibilities: - Firewall Administration & Configuration: - Configure and manage FortiGate firewalls, including policy rules, NAT, VLANs, and routing configurations. - Handle FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer for centralized management and reporting. - Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and intrusion prevention settings. - Optimize firewall rules to enhance security and reduce unnecessary access. - Troubleshooting & Incident Management: - Perform L2-level troubleshooting of firewall issues, including connectivity, performance, and policy conflicts. - Analyze and resolve security incidents, collaborating with the SOC or NOC team when required. - Use FortiAnalyzer for log analysis, reporting, and identifying security threats. - VPN & Remote Access: - Configure and support IPsec and SSL VPNs for remote access and site-to-site connections. - Ensure secure connectivity and troubleshoot VPN-related issues. - Monitoring & Reporting: - Monitor firewall performance and security events. - Generate detailed reports on threat activity, bandwidth usage, and policy violations. - Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with organizational security policies. - Collaboration & Documentation: - Work closely with the L1 and L3 teams for seamless escalation and resolution. - Document configurations, incidents, and resolutions in detailed technical reports. - Collaborate with the network and security team for policy improvements and security best practices. Required Skills & Qualifications: - 4-8 years of experience in network security with a focus on Fortinet firewalls. - Hands-on experience with FortiGate, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer. - Strong knowledge of firewall policies, NAT, VPNs, and routing protocols. - Experience with IPS, application control, and web filtering. - Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and troubleshooting tools. - Proficiency in log analysis and event correlation. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Certifications: - Fortinet NSE 4 or higher certification. - Knowledge of other security solutions (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA) is a plus. Soft Skills: - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work independently and handle L2-level incidents efficiently. - Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to network security.
