Fitter - steel yard

The Fitter in the steel yard is responsible for fitting, assembling, cutting, and preparing steel materials as per drawings and project requirements. The role involves handling steel sections, operating basic tools/equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting yard operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, measurements, and layout plans.
• Mark, cut, grind, drill, and prepare steel sections for fabrication.
• Fit and assemble steel components according to specifications.
• Operate tools and machines such as grinders, gas cutters, drilling machines, etc.
• Ensure all materials are properly handled, stored, and tagged.
• Coordinate with welders, crane operators, and yard supervisors for smooth workflow.
• Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy and quality standards.
• Follow all safety procedures and use PPE at all times.
• Assist in loading/unloading steel materials when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Skills & Qualifications:

• ITI Fitter or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum 4–10 years of experience in a steel yard or fabrication environment (preferred).
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and measurement tools.
• Knowledge of steel materials and fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with basic machines used in steel yards.
• Strong physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor yard conditions.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to work overtime or shifts if required.
• Adherence to company safety and quality policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹10,103.44 - ₹35,000.00 per month
