Fire Supervisor

FIRE HYDRANT AND SPRINKLER SYSTEM SITE ENGINEER

Responsibilities and job duties:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Firefighting Projects (Hydrant, Sprinkler, Fire Alarm, Gas based Fire Suppression System, Fire Extinguisher, etc.)

1. Site Supervision & Execution

• Oversee the installation of fire hydrant and sprinkler systems as per approved drawings and specifications.
• Monitor daily activities and ensure timely execution of tasks on site.
• Ensure correct placement of pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, and hydrants.

2. Technical Coordination

• Coordinate with design engineers, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Interpret technical drawings (e.g., layout, schematic, riser diagrams).
• Assist in resolving technical issues or conflicts at the site.

3. Quality Assurance

• Conduct inspections to ensure materials and workmanship meet quality standards and NFPA/IS codes.
• Verify installation against safety regulations and project requirements.
• Witness hydrostatic pressure testing, pump testing, and commissioning activities.

4. Material Management

• Check and verify the quality and quantity of delivered fire system materials.
• Prepare material requirement sheets and coordinate with the procurement team.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of firefighting equipment on-site.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain daily progress reports and site logs.
• Document installation progress with photos and updates.
• Prepare test reports, checklists, and inspection request (IR) submissions.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety practices during installation.
• Comply with local fire safety norms and building codes.
• Coordinate with fire authorities for inspections and approvals.

7. Team Coordination

• Supervise and guide foremen, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Organize toolbox talks and site safety briefings.
• Assign daily work targets to site teams and monitor productivity.

8. Testing & Commissioning

• Participate in pre-commissioning and final commissioning of the fire hydrant and sprinkler systems.
• Coordinate with third-party agencies or client representatives during testing.

Key Skills Required

Knowledge of NFPA, IS, and NBC fire codes

Proficiency in reading AutoCAD or MEP drawings

Good understanding of pump room design and hydraulic calculations

Familiarity with valves, sprinklers, fire pumps, jockey pumps, and control panels

Strong problem-solving and communication skills
