Job Description

As an experienced Fabrication Planning Manager, your role will involve leading and overseeing the process planning, project scheduling, nesting optimization, and material utilization for heavy fabrication projects in Defence, Nuclear, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Tanks, and Hydro Structures. Your blend of technical expertise and managerial capability will be crucial in ensuring that fabrication projects are executed with precision, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the fabrication planning team and oversee day-to-day planning operations. - Prepare and review process plans based on engineering drawings and specifications. - Develop macro & micro schedules to align project timelines with production capacity. - Drive nesting strategies for optimum material utilization and scrap reduction. - Implement effective wastage control measures and yield improvement initiatives. - Monitor shop-floor execution against schedules; identify and resolve bottlenecks. - Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Project Management to ensure seamless execution. - Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO standards, and client-specific requirements. - Track and report key performance indicators (KPI): material utilization, schedule adherence, productivity, and cost control. - Mentor and guide engineers and supervisors within the planning department. Required Skills & Experience: - 10-15 years of experience in fabrication planning / production planning in heavy fabrication. - Strong expertise in process planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. - Proficiency with nesting software (SigmaNEST, ProNest, or equivalent). - Solid knowledge of TIG & MIG welding planning aspects and fabrication processes. - Proven track record in handling projects for Defence, Nuclear, or Heavy Engineering sectors. - Experience in ERP/Planning tools (SAP PP, MS Project, Primavera). - Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Education: - B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgy Engineering (MBA/PGDBM is an added advantage).
