Job Description

Own the lifecycle of fabric orders—from design brief and yarn planning through vendor allocation, bulk production, QA, and dispatch—ensuring right-first-time quality, on-time shipments, and complete yarn-to-finished-fabric reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design hand-off & planning: Translate design briefs into manufacturable specs (construction, EPI/PPI, GSM, width, finish, print repeat). Build T&A with clear milestones.
  • Yarn calculation: Compute warp/weft requirements, conversion to kg, process losses, and safety margins. Plan beams/shade lots to minimize mixing.
  • Production planning: Book mill/printing/finishing capacities; release lots with traceability; daily/weekly tracking against T&A and immediate risk escalation.
  • Vendor liaison: Issue POs/job-work orders; coordinate development → bulk; negotiate timelines; maintain vendor scorecards (OTIF, quality, responsiveness).
  • Colour management: Run lab dips/strike-offs; set ∆E targets & light sources; lock recipes; manage shade grouping (A/B/C) and roll numbering.
  • Quality assurance: In-process checks (warping/sizing/loom); final inspection to 4-Point/10-Point; AQL sampling; ensure test compliance (wash/rub/perspiration/light, tensile/tear, pilling, shrinkage).
  • Reconciliation: Maintain lot-wise input–output from yarn issue → grey → processed → packed A-grade; analyze variances; raise debit/credit where due.
  • Stakeholder communication: Act as single point for buyer/brand updates, approvals, and corrective actions with clear timelines and impact.
  • Documentation & compliance: Tech packs, POs/challans/GRNs, inspection reports, test certs, shade maps, PP/bulk approvals—version-controlled and audit-ready.

Must-Have Skills

  • Proven experience in woven & printed fabrics across development and bulk.
  • Fabric QA (4-Point/10-Point), colour matching/spectro basics, yarn calculation, production planning, QC, and reconciliation.
  • Strong vendor & buyer liaison; crisp status reporting; risk management.

Nice to Have

  • Knit fabric QA/production exposure (GSM control, compaction, spirality).
  • Natural dye/print or sustainable finishing knowledge.
  • Costing/value-engineering mindset.

Tools & Systems

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets, PLM/ERP, inspection apps.

Education

  • Degree in Textile Technology, Fashion/Textile Management, or equivalent experience.

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • OTIF ≥ 95%; First-pass approvals ≥ 85% (lab dips/strike-offs).
  • 4-Point defect rate within spec; shade variance within ∆E limits.
  • Reconciliation loss within agreed tolerances; lead-time variance ≤ 10%.
