Job Description

The Plumbing & Fire Fighting Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, execution, and supervision of all plumbing, sanitary, water supply, drainage, and fire-fighting systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The role includes reviewing technical drawings, coordinating with consultants, overseeing installation at site, ensuring compliance with NBC, NFPA standards, and ensuring systems are executed safely and efficiently. The candidate must be able to independently handle project execution, contractor coordination, materials estimation, and system testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify plumbing and fire-fighting design drawings, layouts, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Plan and supervise installation of water supply, drainage, sewage treatment systems, pumps, plumbing fixtures, and piping networks.
  • Supervise installation of fire-fighting systems including hydrants, sprinklers, hose reels, pumps, fire alarm systems, and suppression systems.
  • Prepare BOQs, material lists, cost estimates, and technical comparisons.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP teams, and consultants for design finalization.
  • Ensure execution as per approved drawings, relevant codes (NBC, IS standards, NFPA), and safety regulations.
  • Conduct site inspections, monitor contractor work, and ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Perform testing & commissioning of plumbing and fire-fighting systems (pressure testing, flow tests, pump testing, etc.).
  • Evaluate vendor and contractor quotations, negotiate terms, and finalize work orders.
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and highlight execution challenges.
  • Ensure proper documentation including as-built drawings, O&M manuals, approvals, and compliance records.
  • Provide technical support during audits, inspections, and authority approvals.
  • Propose value engineering solutions to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Lead coordination meetings and handle site-based problem-solving effectively.
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in plumbing and fire-fighting (execution, design review, and supervision).
  • Strong knowledge of water supply systems, drainage networks, pumps, STP/ETP systems, and plumbing codes.
  • Sound understanding of fire-fighting systems: hydrant systems, sprinklers, pump rooms, fire alarms, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes: NBC, IS standards, NFPA, CPHEEO guidelines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and basic MEP coordination software.
  • Strong site execution, contractor management, and problem-solving skills.
