IT&S GroupThe Network Monitoring Tools Engineer will be responsible for leading, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise monitoring platforms that support proactive identification and resolution of network issues. The role involves configuring, optimizing, and integrating supervising tools to ensure accurate transparency of network health and performance.The incumbent will work with L2/L3 teams, infrastructure engineers, and business partners to deliver actionable insights, streamline fix processes, and continuously improve monitoring capabilities. This role is key in ensuring the supervising ecosystem supports operational stability, reduces downtime, and accelerates problem resolution.Occasional travel (<5%) may be required for specific business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising Tools Management & Enhancement
- Administer and maintain enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, Splunk, AppDynamics, Wireshark, or similar).
- Enhance supervising platforms by developing new dashboards, alerts, and reporting capabilities.
- Integrate supervising tools with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) for streamlined incident handling.
- Tool Optimization & Troubleshooting Support
- Ensure monitoring systems deliver accurate real-time visibility of network performance and availability.
- Fine-tune thresholds, alerting rules, and issue workflows to minimize false positives/negatives.
- Support L2/L3 teams by providing data, logs, and insights from supervising tools for faster root cause analysis.
- Operational Perfection
- Develop automation scripts or templates to improve monitoring efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Regularly review tool performance and implement enhancements for scalability and reliability.
- Maintain tool documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with network engineering and operations teams to align monitoring coverage with business needs.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and monitoring effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations for process and tool improvements to management.
- Compliance & Continuous Learning
- Ensure monitoring tools and processes comply with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Stay current on emerging monitoring technologies and best practices.
- Train and mentor team members in the effective use of monitoring platforms.
Qualification and Experience:
- Graduate [Science Technology] in any field with 3+ years of overall experience.
- Experience in handling large and complex IT Operations and relationship management in Remote IT infrastructure management with a strong focus on Incident and Problem management / project management.
- Advanced certifications in Networking or Monitoring Tools are a plus.
Essential
- Hands-on experience managing and enhancing enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Proficiency in network monitoring & management tools such as: SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix, LogicMonitor, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, Wireshark (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, ICMP, DNS, HTTP/S).
- Experience with alerting, reporting, dashboard creation, and tool integrations (with ITSM systems like ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.).
- Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, Shell, or Perl) to automate monitoring tasks and tool enhancements.
- Familiarity with APIs and integrations for extending tool functionality.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure components (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimizers, etc.).
- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to document, train, and mentor others in tool usage and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proactive mindset for improving monitoring coverage and reducing downtime.
Preferred/Desirable
- Certifications like: CCNA/CCNP (Cisco), CompTIA Network+, ITIL Foundation, or vendor-specific tool certifications (e.g., SolarWinds Certified Professional, Splunk Core Certified Power User).
- Versa/Cisco/Juniper Associate level Certification.
- Fortinet/Juniper SD-WAN knowledge
- A broad knowledge of risk and/or security within a large enterprise covering networks, E-business and application security
- Experience in cloud monitoring (AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Operations Suite).
- Exposure to automation frameworks (Ansible, Puppet, or similar)
