Engineer - Roads & Highways

You will be responsible for the production of highway engineering designs and construction drawings independently for various UK schemes using the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and other relevant standards. You will play a proactive part in the design process and be active on several projects simultaneously. Coordinating inputs and outputs with other disciplines to produce an integrated design will be part of your responsibilities. You will contribute to all types of projects, ensuring accountability and responsibility for delivery to a high standard. Adhering to relevant Health and Safety policies and procedures, including the H&S Policy, H&S Manual, and Local Procedures Manual, will be essential. Additionally, guiding and mentoring junior team members to enhance their understanding of subjects or design issues will be expected from you. Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrate good knowledge and experience of UK highway design, including road geometry, signages, road markings, Active Travel schemes, LTN 1/20, and Active Travel England related documents production - Utilize relevant design software such as Civil 3D, PDS/Key Line and Sign, AutoCAD, and ProjectWise - Proficiency in standard office software - Seek clarification of instructions and work scope as needed - Liaise with the UK project team to deliver schemes/projects effectively - Quick to acquire new ideas and skills, and able to think laterally to generate solutions to problems - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Prepare Development Drainage Strategies Desired Skills: - Prepare technical specifications and reports - Manage work packages Qualifications: - Bachelor's or post-graduate degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent - 4-8 years of post-graduate experience in highway design - Working towards a recognized Professional Qualification About the Company: WSP is a leading professional services consulting firm globally, dedicated to local communities and driven by international expertise.
